Mission Mangal is an upcoming Indian Hindi – Language drama film directed by Jagan Shakti and jointly produced by Akshay Kumar , R. Balki , Aruna Bhatia , and Anil Naidu. The film stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar , Vidya Balan , Taapsee Pannu , Nithya Menen , Kirti Kulhari , Sharman Joshi , H.G. Dattatreya and Sonakshi Sinha. This movie is based on the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organization who contributed to the Mars orbiter mission, which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition.

On 5 November 2018, to coincide with 5 November 2013 launched from Sriharikota space port , the day the Mars Mission was launched , Mission Mangal was announced. Photography for the film began later in mid- Nov. In early February, Taapsee Pannu finished her shooting.

ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) , which was also known as Mangalyaan, was launched in 2013. Successfully executing a Mars Mission in its first attempt, this movie marked India’s first interplanetary expedition. It made ISRO the fourth space agency to reach Mars, after Roscosmos, NASA, and the European Space Agency while also being the first Asian nation to reach Martin Orbit .

In 2014, China referred to India’s successful mission as the ” Pride of Asia”. The worth of the spacecraft is even featured on the P 2,000 currency notes of India. This landmark moment in India’s history again recreating on the big screen, Mission Mangal will tell the story from the prespective of the scientists that worked on the project, including the exemplary women behind this mission.


Only 4 July, 2019, Akshay Kumar unveild the first look poster of the film. The film is scheduled to release theatrically on 15th August 2019. The official teaser of the film released on 9 July, 2019 by Fox Star Studios. The trailer of the film was released on 18th July 2019 by Fox Star Studios.

Mission Mangal will be released on the screens on August 15 this year, and clash with John Abraham’s Batla House.


Story and Trailer

The film Mission Mangal tells us the tale of how India made commendable achievements in space with the mars orbiter Mission. Sagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal will bring forth the country’s first interplanetary mission.

The trailer of this movie just shoot out the viewer’s mind. The trailer begins with Akshay Kumar’s voice,” There is no science without experiment .” The 2 minute and 52 seconds trailer shows the complete determination of the scientists who were from different backgrounds, who battle all odds to launch the Mars Orbiter Mission.

According to the reports in India Express, Akshay Kumar said at the launch,” We didn’t have that much knowledge about Mars Orbiter Mission before we started working on the film”.

There is a line in the trailer of this movie that says,” The sky is not the limit”, and indeed, the scientists refuse to lose hope but all the way thanks to Akshay Kumar’s positive cheer and determination and succeed in their mission.


Also, the whole team was afraid whether they have the finances and experience for this concept and have to face constant discouraging comments from seniors. Yet, this all ends in a good way. The trailer ends with the Akshay Kumars’s saying proudly, ” Poori duniya se kaho, copy that!” There is the signature tune of Vande Mataram.

In an early tweet, Akshay revealed that he chose Mission Mangal specially for his daughter and children her age and to familiarise them with the incredible true story of India’s Mission to Mars.

According to him, ” Mission Mangal is that film for me which that I hope, will inspire as much as it will entertain. He believe that this movie with heplp the youth to know more about our space achievements. Based on the incredible true story of India’s mission to Mars, Mission Mangal is a film about ordinary people achieving the extraordinary. A true story that proves that creativity, ideas and dreams have no limit, just like the sky! This Independence Day , the sky is not the limit”.

Telling about the Importance of this film, actor Akshay Kumar said,” For several years, Hollywood has made the space movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, Gravity, etc, this inspired an entire generation of inventors, scientists, and explorers. I have always wanted to be a part of such kind of movies, A movie that inspires the future generation.
